Huddersfield Examiner Review

Submitted by admin on Thursday, 30 October 2008No Comment

HAVING seen an article in the Examiner about Mikron theatre company’s planned summer season, my husband and I booked to attend the presentation of The Lacemakers at Nosh, Northgate, Almondbury. The package included a two course meal prior to the performance.

The whole evening was pure pleasure. The two course meal, selected from a menu which included starters and main courses and optional puddings was a real treat. The greeting was very friendly and efficient. The wine, by the glass was good quality. Every aspect of the food was very good, we were offered warm, fresh crusty bread. My choice of starters, smoked fish in a noodle basket and my husband’s warm salad were both very generous in quantity, indeed they would have provided a reasonable main course, they were excellent.

The main course of Mushroom Risotto and Duck were equally good – Risotto is a particular challenge for any chef. I did avoid the pudding menu but my husband’s strawberry mess looked a delicious variation on a traditional theme and was very much enjoyed. Coffee was top quality and served with delicious amaretto biscuits. We then adjourned upstairs for the performance by Mikron and how talented this theatre company of four proved to be. There was music, laughter and sadness and a very skilled use of costume and props.

The whole package cost £18 per person – a real bargain and a great evening out. I have not visited Nosh before or seen Mikron perform but I am a convert to both. We are very fortunate in Yorkshire to have talented people and great restaurants, we should not take them for granted.
